Job summary

Bridgena Barnard Personnel Group is seeking a Bookkeeper in CPT - CBD, Western Cape. The role covers full bookkeeping up to trial balance, GL upkeep, supplier and customer postings, and VAT/PAYE returns, with ad hoc duties.

Requirements include an accounting qualification, 5 years bookkeeping experience (2+ in a similar role), strong attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel. Excellent communication and team skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Finance/Accounting qualification; Diploma or Degree advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years bookkeeping experience, with at least 2 years in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and legislation.
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Full bookkeeping function up to trial balance.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable.
• Process bank reconciliations, cashbooks, and journals.
• Loading payments on the banking platform for authorization.
• Preparing pay over schedules to clients.
• Verification of accounts payable invoices.
• Preparation and submission of VAT, PAYE, and statutory returns.
• Assist with monthly management accounts.
• Support annual audit process with auditors.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards; liaise with auditors, SARS, suppliers, and clients.
• Ad hoc duties as required.
