Job summary

Sabenza IT & Recruitment in Cape Town's Montague Gardens is seeking a SQL / C# Specialist with strong BI experience. You’ll design and implement ETL pipelines, databases and reports using SQL Server, SSIS and SSRS, while integrating complex APIs and driving analytics.

The role reports to the BI Manager and requires 5–8 years’ IT experience, including C# data processing, Azure knowledge, and data warehousing. You’ll collaborate across teams to deliver proactive insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in CS/IS.
• 5–8 years IT work experience in programming and/or systems analysis (T-SQL, MS SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS).
• 5–8 years’ experience in C# for data processing and integrations.
• 4–6 years’ experience in data warehousing and advanced analytics.
• Knowledge of Azure and Big Data tools.

• Maintain and monitor active integrations (POS, EDI, SFTP, REST, SOAP) and APIs.
• Improve ETL processing and data workflows.

SQL / C# Specialist

We’re looking for the person who can keep that engine humming — and make it smarter.

This is not a “refresh the dashboard and disappear” gig. You’ll sit with the business, write the spec, build it, test it, ship it, then go hunting for the next AI-shaped shortcut.

Who Are We Looking For

We have a full-time vacancy for a SQL / C# Specialist with at least 5–8 years’ experience with the implementation of BI solutions for business problems through the design and development of ETL, databases and reports using SQL Server, SSIS and SSRS, as well as substantial C# scripting. Maintenance and expanding mission‑critical API integrations with external systems will be a key responsibility. The successful candidate will also play an active role in advanced data analytics and the development of related proactive insights for the business and customers.

The successful candidate will report to the BI Manager and will be stationed at our office in Montague Gardens (Cape Town).

Key Responsibilities

• Maintenance and active monitoring of all active integrations which include, but are not limited to, POS, EDI, SFTP, REST, SOAP and other API integrations.
• Maintenance and continuous improvements to the ETL processing.
• Assist with requirements gathering, creating technical specification documentation and development of new requirements in MS SQL as well as C#.
• This includes implementing advanced insights models for business and customers using advanced analytical techniques.
• Database administration ensuring best‑practice maintenance and systems resource utilisation.
• Actively explore AI solutions to create meaningful insights into our data for both internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 5–8 years’ IT work experience in programming and/or systems analysis, including T‑SQL, MS SQL Server, SSIS and SSRS.
• At least 5–8 years’ experience in C# for data processing, custom functions and application integrations.
• Experience with SQL Assembly will be advantageous.
• At least 4–6 years’ experience in data warehousing and advanced data analytics.
• Solid knowledge and experience with technology and application development methodologies.
• Knowledge of Big Data tools and skills on Cloud platforms like Azure
