Job summary

The President Hotel in Cape Town seeks an experienced Spa Manager with at least 3 years of luxury spa leadership experience. You will lead the spa team, manage rosters, and uphold exceptional guest service and treatment standards in a high-volume, 4/5-star hotel environment.

You will mentor staff, drive training, monitor operations, and collaborate with other departments to deliver seamless guest experiences while maintaining spa SOPs and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Spa, Beauty Therapy, Somatology, Wellness or Hospitality qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within a professional spa or luxury wellness environment.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience within a spa environment essential.
  • Experience within a 4-star or 5-star hotel spa or luxury hospitality environment will be an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of spa operations, treatments and guest service standards.
  • Proven experience leading, motivating, coaching and developing a team.
  • Experience managing staff rosters, attendance, leave and daily operational requirements.
  • Strong guest relations and service recovery skills.
  • Experience with stock control, monthly stock takes and inventory management.
  • Good understanding of spa revenue, commissions, reporting and operational performance.
  • Experience working with spa booking and management systems, Fresha advantageous.
  • Good understanding of health, safety, hygiene and professional spa standards.
  • Strong operational and administrative capabilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational, planning and time-management ability.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical and hands-on approach.
  • Ability to prioritise and work in a busy, guest-focused environment.
  • Strong computer literacy and administrative skills.
  • Professional grooming and presentation.
  • Ability to work shifts, weekends and public holidays as required.
  • South African ID or valid work authorisation.
  • A fully updated CV with contactable reference details essential.

Responsibilities

  • Taking overall responsibility for the efficient day-to-day operations of the spa.
  • Leading the spa team and ensuring consistently exceptional guest service and treatment standards.
  • Managing and approving staff rosters to ensure appropriate coverage and effective use of resources.
  • Conducting regular team meetings and ensuring operational updates, challenges and service standards are communicated effectively.
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing spa team members to strengthen individual and team performance.
  • Supporting the onboarding and training of new and existing employees.
  • Creating a positive, professional and motivated working environment within the spa.
  • Addressing staff concerns, attendance matters, late arrivals and absenteeism in line with hotel HR procedures.
  • Ensuring spa Standard Operating Procedures, policies and service standards are consistently followed.
  • Building relationships with guests and ensuring their needs are handled promptly, professionally and with genuine care.
  • Providing hands‑on support with guest complaints and ensuring effective service recovery when required.
  • Identifying and resolving operational challenges, including staffing gaps, equipment faults and service issues.
  • Maintaining a clean, welcoming, professional and well‑presented spa environment.
  • Working closely with Guest Experience, Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance and other hotel departments to ensure seamless guest experiences.
  • Attending relevant hotel operational meetings and ensuring the spa remains aligned with wider hotel operations.
  • Managing spa inventory, monthly stock takes, towel counts and stock records.
  • Monitoring stock usage and maintaining appropriate controls to minimise unnecessary loss and wastage.
  • Overseeing spa administration and ensuring records and reports are accurate and completed timeously.
  • Preparing salary and commission reports from Fresha for review.
  • Maintaining accurate staff attendance, leave and supporting HR documentation.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements, hygiene standards and industry best practices.
  • Monitoring the overall spa guest experience and identifying opportunities to continually improve service.
  • Supporting revenue opportunities through effective spa operations, guest engagement and service excellence.
