Job summary

Bright Placements is seeking a Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations in Johannesburg. You will help ensure high-quality dish preparation and presentation, supervise staff, and manage stock while upholding hygiene standards.

The role requires a culinary qualification, 3–5 years in a professional kitchen, and strong leadership and communication skills. You will lead during service periods and contribute to menu planning and costing when required.

Qualifications

• Culinary qualification or professional chef training is required.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices is expected.
• Experience leading a kitchen team and coordinating service.

Responsibilities

• Assist in menu execution and development, ensuring recipes and presentation meet standards.
• Supervise kitchen staff during service and coordinate food preparation.
• Maintain food quality, portion control, and consistency across dishes; manage stock and ordering.
• Ensure adherence to hygiene, safety regulations, and mentor junior kitchen staff.
