Placements24 in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, is seeking a skilled Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in all kitchen operations. You will lead a capable team, refine menus, and ensure flawless event execution across wine festivals, corporate functions, and private gatherings.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of progressive culinary experience, a recognized culinary qualification, and a strong focus on quality, hygiene, and cost control. This on-site role requires flexibility for events.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years progressive culinary experience, preferably in fine dining or high-volume catering.
• Proven ability to manage and lead a kitchen team effectively.
• Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, cuisines, and presentation styles.
• Excellent understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Chef with planning menus, developing recipes, and overseeing food preparation.
• Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of performance and teamwork.
• Manage kitchen operations in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring smooth service delivery.
• Ensure consistent quality, taste, and presentation of all dishes leaving the kitchen.
• Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
• Control inventory, manage stock rotation, and assist with procurement of ingredients.
• Contribute creative ideas for menu enhancements and new culinary offerings.
