Job summary

Helderberg Personnel invites applications for a Sous Chef to assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations at an upmarket luxury hotel or restaurant near Somerset West.

You will lead kitchen staff, oversee food preparation and presentation to maintain luxury standards, manage food costs and stock control, and ensure impeccable service and hygiene across all stations.

Preference given to applicants with experience in luxury establishments.

Job description

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist the Executive Chef with the daily management and smooth running of kitchen operations
• Oversee food preparation, presentation and consistency in line with luxury hospitality standards
• Supervise, motivate and develop kitchen staff
• Monitor food costs, stock control, wastage and kitchen hygiene
• Ensure efficient service delivery and adherence to food safety standards

Criteria:

• Relevant professional culinary qualification
• Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in an equivalent senior kitchen position
• Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
• Excellent knowledge of food costing, stock control and kitchen operations
• Experience within an upmarket hotel, restaurant or luxury hospitality environment

Please note that consideration will be given primarily to applicants with relevant experience in an equivalent position within the hospitality industry, preferably in an upmarket or luxury establishment.
