SOUS CHEF

Somerset West: My client, a luxury 5-star country estate in the heart of the Cape Winelands, is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join their culinary team. This position is suited to a hands-on, passionate chef with strong kitchen management skills, excellent culinary standards and the ability to lead and motivate a professional kitchen brigade.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist the Executive Chef with the daily management and smooth running of kitchen operations
• Oversee food preparation, presentation and consistency in line with luxury hospitality standards
• Supervise, motivate and develop kitchen staff
• Monitor food costs, stock control, wastage and kitchen hygiene
• Ensure efficient service delivery and adherence to food safety standards

Criteria:

• Relevant professional culinary qualification
• Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in an equivalent senior kitchen position
• Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
• Excellent knowledge of food costing, stock control and kitchen operations
• Experience within an upmarket hotel, restaurant or luxury hospitality environment
