About the Role

Our client, a highly-regarded winery and restaurant in the heart of the Paarl wine region, is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Sommelier . This role is central to enhancing the dining experience by expertly guiding guests through our extensive wine list, recommending pairings, and managing the wine cellar. The ideal candidate will possess a deep passion for wine, exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to create a sophisticated and educational wine experience for our patrons.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert wine recommendations and food and wine pairings to guests.
• Manage the selection, acquisition, and inventory of the wine cellar.
• Educate service staff on wine offerings and proper service techniques.
• Develop and host wine-tasting events and educational sessions.
• Maintain the highest standards of wine service and cellar organization.

Requirements

• Certification from a recognized sommelier institution (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET).
• Extensive knowledge of global wines, spirits, and beverage programs .
• Previous experience as a Sommelier or senior wine steward.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and sales skills.
• Passion for the wine industry and commitment to continuous learning.
