Placements24 is seeking a talented Solar PV Design Engineer to join a Mossel Bay-based team. You will design PV systems for commercial, industrial and utility-scale projects, run energy yield assessments, and ensure compliance with local electrical standards and interconnection requirements.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in PV design, proficiency with PVsyst/Helioscope, and a strong understanding of solar technologies and battery storage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience designing solar photovoltaic systems.
• Proficiency with PV design software PVsyst/Helioscope.

Responsibilities

• Design detailed plans for solar PV systems including layouts and schematics.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a talented and motivated Solar PV Design Engineer to join their growing team in Mossel Bay. This role focuses on the design and technical development of photovoltaic solar energy systems for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale projects. You will be responsible for creating detailed system designs, performing energy yield assessments, and ensuring that installations meet all technical and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop detailed plans for solar PV systems, including array layouts, electrical schematics, and component selection.
• Perform energy production simulations and yield assessments using industry-standard software.
• Ensure designs comply with local building codes, electrical standards, and utility interconnection requirements.
• Collaborate with sales, procurement, and construction teams to provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies for potential solar projects.
• Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for clients and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design of solar photovoltaic systems.
• Proficiency with PV design software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar tools.
