Job summary

Placements24 seeks a knowledgeable Solar Energy Consultant to advise businesses and homeowners in the Western Cape on solar solutions, incentives, and implementation. You will assess energy needs and guide clients through design and installation processes.

You will combine client-facing activities with remote analysis and reporting, staying updated on solar technology and energy policies to deliver trusted financial and technical guidance.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years in the solar energy industry with system design and sales/consulting focus.
• Proficiency with solar design software (PVsyst, Helioscope) and energy modeling tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site energy audits to assess solar potential for clients.
• Design customized solar PV configurations including panels, inverters, and storage.
• Prepare proposals with design details, cost-benefit analyses and payback periods.
• Advise on government incentives, rebates and financing options.

About the Role

Our client seeks a knowledgeable and client-focused Solar Energy Consultant to advise businesses and homeowners on the benefits and implementation of solar energy solutions in the Western Cape . This role involves assessing energy needs, designing optimal solar PV systems, and guiding clients through the installation process, including navigating incentives and regulations. You will act as a trusted advisor, providing expert technical and financial analysis to support the transition to cleaner energy. The hybrid nature of this role allows for flexibility, combining client-facing activities with remote analysis and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site energy audits and assessments to determine solar potential for residential and commercial clients.
• Design customized solar PV system configurations, including panel selection, inverter specification, and battery storage solutions.
• Prepare detailed proposals outlining system design, cost-benefit analysis, performance estimations, and payback periods.
• Advise clients on available government incentives, rebates, and financing options for solar installations.
• Oversee the project from initial consultation through to final installation and commissioning, ensuring client satisfaction.
• Stay updated on the latest solar technology advancements, industry trends, and relevant energy policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in the solar energy industry, with a strong focus on system design and sales/consulting.
• Proficiency with solar design software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope) and energy modeling tools.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build client trust.
• Ability to travel for site assessments and client meetings while working effectively remotely for analysis and reporting.
