Placements24 is seeking a talented Solar Energy Systems Engineer to join its fully remote team. You will design, analyze, and optimize PV systems for residential, commercial, and utility-scale projects across South Africa, collaborating with sales, project management, and installation teams.

You will use PVsyst and Helioscope to model energy production and financial performance, develop electrical schematics, and provide guidance during proposals and project execution.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and motivated Solar Energy Systems Engineer to join their fully remote engineering team. This role focuses on the design, analysis, and optimization of photovoltaic (PV) systems for residential, commercial, and utility-scale applications. You will collaborate closely with sales, project management, and installation teams to ensure the successful deployment of solar projects nationwide. As a key member of a distributed team, you will leverage your technical expertise to drive innovation and efficiency in solar energy solutions, contributing to a sustainable future from your remote workspace .

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer optimal solar PV system configurations, including component selection (panels, inverters, batteries) and system layout.
• Perform energy production simulations and financial performance analyses using industry-standard software (e.g., PVSyst, Helioscope).
• Develop technical specifications, electrical schematics, and installation guides for solar projects.
• Provide technical support to sales teams during the proposal development phase and to installation teams during project execution.
• Conduct performance reviews of operational solar assets and recommend improvements.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in solar technology, energy storage, and relevant industry standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in solar PV system design and engineering.
• Proficiency with solar design and simulation software such as PVSyst, Helioscope, or similar.
• Strong understanding of electrical principles, national electrical codes, and solar component technologies.
