About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Solar Energy Systems Designer to contribute to their expanding clean energy division in Nelspruit . This role is responsible for conceptualizing and developing detailed designs for photovoltaic (PV) solar energy systems, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards. You will work closely with sales, engineering, and installation teams to translate client needs into effective and efficient solar solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Design residential, commercial, and industrial solar PV systems from initial concept through to detailed schematics.
• Perform site assessments and energy production estimations using specialized software.
• Specify all necessary components, including solar panels, inverters, mounting structures, and electrical wiring.
• Ensure system designs comply with the National Electrical Code, local building codes, and solar industry standards .
• Create detailed bills of materials (BOMs) and installation drawings for field teams.
• Collaborate with engineers to optimize system performance, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in designing solar PV systems .
• Proficiency with solar design software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar.
• Solid understanding of electrical principles, building codes, and renewable energy technologies.
• Experience with AC/DC theory, wiring diagrams, and system integration.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
