This senior role combines remote strategic work with on-site engagement. You will build relationships with NGOs, government bodies and corporate partners, set KPIs, manage projects and mentor staff to deliver measurable impact in the Gauteng

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in social impact management, program development, or community development, with leadership experience.
• Proven ability in strategic planning, project management and impact measurement.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Social Impact Manager to lead initiatives in Soweto, Gauteng . This senior role is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing strategies that create significant positive social change within the community. You will work to identify key areas for intervention, build strong relationships with community stakeholders, and manage projects that address critical social issues such as education, poverty alleviation, and health. The position involves a hybrid work model, combining strategic planning and reporting from a remote setting with essential on-site engagement and project oversight within Soweto and its surrounding areas. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of social impact principles, exceptional leadership and management skills, and a proven track record in driving measurable positive outcomes. We are looking for a strategic thinker with a passion for social justice and the ability to inspire collaboration across diverse groups to achieve meaningful and sustainable impact in the Gauteng region.

Requirements

• Proven experience in strategic planning, project management, and impact measurement.
• Strong understanding of social, economic, and environmental challenges in South Africa, particularly in urban settings like Gauteng .
• Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and diverse teams.
• Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and impact assessment methodologies.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, balancing remote strategic work with on-site community engagement.
• A strong commitment to ethical practices and sustainable development.
• Experience working within the Soweto community is a significant advantage.
