About the Role

Our client is seeking a compassionate and proactive Social Auxiliary Worker to join their Community Outreach team in **Tembisa, Gauteng**. This role involves providing direct social support services to individuals and families within the **Tembisa** community. You will work under the supervision of a Social Worker to assist clients with various needs, including accessing social grants, referrals to support services, basic counseling, and facilitating community development initiatives. The focus is on empowering residents, improving their access to resources, and fostering community well-being. This position requires a strong connection to the **Tembisa** community and a dedication to social service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Social Workers in conducting assessments of client needs and circumstances.
• Provide direct support and practical assistance to clients, helping them navigate social welfare systems.
• Facilitate access to social grants, housing assistance, and other government and NGO services.
• Offer basic counseling and emotional support to individuals and families in distress.
• Organize and facilitate community group activities and workshops aimed at social development and empowerment.
• Conduct follow-up visits to monitor client progress and the effectiveness of interventions.
• Maintain accurate and confidential client records and contribute to case documentation.
• Collaborate with community leaders, local organizations, and other service providers in **Tembisa**.
• Refer clients to specialized services when necessary, ensuring continuity of care.
• Promote awareness of available social services within the **Tembisa** community.
• Assist in the planning and execution of community outreach events and programs.

Requirements

• National Diploma in Social Work, Community Development, or a related field.
• Registration as a Social Auxiliary Worker with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
• Previous experience working in a community-based setting or with vulnerable populations.
• Good understanding of social welfare policies and community resources in **South Africa**.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals.
• Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, under supervision.
• Basic computer literacy (MS Office).
• Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation is advantageous for community visits.
