Placements24 in Upington is seeking a motivated SOC Analyst to monitor alerts, analyze incidents, and respond to security events. You will join a growing security team and act as the first line of defense, helping safeguard digital assets.

The role suits entry-level to mid-level professionals with a degree in cybersecurity or related field and 1–3 years in security operations. You will work with SIEM and other tools, learning incident response processes and contributing to SOC documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, CS, IT, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1-3 years of experience in a security operations center, network operations center, or IT security-focused role.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts, TCP/IP, and common protocols.
• Familiarity with security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and antivirus software.
• Ability to analyze logs and identify suspicious patterns.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from SIEM, IDS/IPS, and other security tools.
• Analyze security incidents to determine their nature, scope, and impact.
• Respond to security alerts according to established procedures and playbooks.
• Escalate complex or critical incidents to senior analysts or incident response teams.
• Assist in the investigation of security breaches and unauthorized access attempts.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of SOC procedures and documentation.
• Maintain awareness of current cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
