Job summary

Placements24 in Soweto seeks a Senior Cybersecurity Analyst to join a dedicated security team. You will monitor, detect, analyze and respond to threats, protect digital assets and ensure confidentiality of information systems.

Responsibilities include SIEM monitoring, incident analysis, vulnerability management and penetration testing. You will implement security policies, collaborate with IT, and deliver security awareness training to staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT or related field.
• 5+ years of cybersecurity operations, incident response, or threat analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, tools, and technologies (SIEM, endpoint security, network security).
• Experience with vulnerability management and penetration testing methodologies.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols, operating systems, and common attack vectors.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or GSEC are highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and logs from SIEM, IDS/IPS, and firewalls to detect threats.
• Lead incident analysis, scope assessment, and response efforts.
• Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses.
• Stay current with threats and technologies and recommend mitigations.
• Collaborate with IT to ensure secure configuration and operation of systems.
