Job summary

University of Fort Hare in Cape Town seeks a Skills Development Specialist to coordinate workplace skills development initiatives, WSP/ATR submissions and funded training solutions.

You will engage with clients, drive SETA-funded opportunities, manage reporting and ensure compliance with B-BBEE and SETA requirements, while growing revenue and maintaining strong relationships.

Qualifications

  • Matric / Grade 12 is required.
  • 1–2 years’ experience in the training and skills development industry, preferably in a SETA-accredited provider.
  • Experience in client relationship management.
  • Strong knowledge of SETA processes, Discretionary Grant funding, WSP and ATR submissions, Learnerships, Skills Programmes and B-BBEE Skills Development requirements.
  • Certification in SDF/ODETDP or related field is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and compile Workplace Skills Plans (WSPs) and Annual Training Reports (ATRs) in line with SETA and B-BBEE requirements.
  • Drive sales and revenue growth through SETA-funded training solutions and Discretionary Grant opportunities.
  • Identify and engage with clients to understand their training and development needs.
  • Recommend and facilitate suitable funded training solutions based on client requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships while identifying new business opportunities.
  • Achieve agreed business development and revenue targets.
  • Support management with WSP implementation and workplace skills development initiatives.
  • Coordinate Learnerships, Skills Programmes and YES initiatives.
  • Coordinate Discretionary Grant applications, funding reports, cost reports and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of SETA, B-BBEE, funding and regulatory reports.
  • Coordinate SETA-related surveys, communications, updates and audits.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all documentation is completed in accordance with relevant requirements.
  • Stay up to date with changes to SETA, B-BBEE and skills development legislation and processes.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Skills Development Specialist to join their Cape Town team. This role is ideal for a driven and organised professional with experience in skills development, SETA processes, funded training solutions and client relationship management.

The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating workplace skills development initiatives, supporting WSP and ATR submissions, managing SETA-related processes and identifying opportunities to grow revenue through funded training solutions.
