Job summary

Boardroom Appointments seeks a Site Supervisor for a Durban-based two-month contract in the logistics sector. The role emphasizes enforcing SOPs, coordinating in-house procedures and ensuring health and safety compliance.

You will manage vehicle dispatch, documentation and HR-related processes, while maintaining records and aligning with customer KPIs and cut-off times. Matric is required; a related degree/diploma is beneficial, with at least three years of logistics experience.

Qualifications

• Matric required; degree/diploma in supply chain/logistics beneficial
• 3 years relevant experience in logistics
• Knowledge of SOPs, documentation and OH&S requirements
• Familiarity with HR policies and codes of conduct

Responsibilities

• Enforce and maintain SOPs across the operation
• Understand and use the business systems for operations
• Keep filing and admin up to date
• Monitor freight scanning, manifests and dispatch authorisations
• Plan and order vehicles according to requirements
• Ensure correct processing of freight and rectify discrepancies
• Manage staff leave, time and attendance
• Drive staff development and maintain training records
• Identify HR issues and initiate IR/HR processes as needed
• Maintain HR/payroll records (job profiles, wages, etc)

2 Month Contract

• Matric
• Degree/diploma in supply chain/logistics field beneficial
• 3 years relevant experience within the logistics environment
• Working knowledge of In-house procedures and practices
• Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to the In-house operation
• Knowledge of the documentation used in the operations
• Customer requirements including cut off times and KPIs
• Code of Conduct and HR policies
• Internal and external services pertaining to the operation
• Occupational Health and Safety Act 1993 and the requirements thereof ISO 9001

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all Standard Operating Procedures are known, understood, documented, in place, managed, maintained and enforced
• Understand and know how to make use of the various systems in the business
• Keep all filing and administration up to date
• Monitor the processes of scanning, manifesting and authorising of various In-house documents and dispatching of freight
• Ensure the effective utilisation and optimisation of vehicles
• Ensure vehicles are planned and ordered according to specific requirements and communicated to relevant parties
• Ensure all freight is correctly processed
• Rectify any discrepancies from the receiving branch within the allocated time frame
• Manage leave, time and attendance of all staff
• Drive skills development of staff through training and other initiatives as regularly as required and keep signed records on file
• Identify problem areas and initiate IR and HR processes as required
• Ensure that all HR and payroll records are in place and maintained (job profiles, competencies, appraisals, wages etc)
