Job summary

The Weir Group in Port Elizabeth is seeking an Engineer Shift Leader to oversee maintenance and production support on site, ensuring reliable operations and adherence to safety standards.

You will lead the maintenance team, drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and coordinate with other departments to minimise downtime while maintaining a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical) or equivalent.
• Relevant trade certificate is advantageous/required.
• 3-5 years relevant foundry experience or manufacturing environment.
• Supervisory and management experience is required.
• Knowledge of Preventative & Predictive maintenance principles.
• Sound SHE knowledge and experience.
• HT (High Tension) Electrical knowledge, training & experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Manage the maintenance team and daily operations to ensure efficient planning, repairs and maintenance activities.
• Maintenance Management: Lead preventive maintenance programs, manage equipment schedules and ensure critical spares availability.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure activities comply with OSHACT, SANS 10142 and company safety standards; travel may be required.
• Collaboration and Support: Work with other departments to address maintenance needs and provide operational support including overtime when necessary.
