Job summary

Wärtsilä Cape Town is seeking a maintenance technician to perform maintenance and repair work on Wärtsilä products, under the Field Service Team Leader. You will use shop & field tools, prepare parts requisitions, and ensure timely, accurate service reports.

You will uphold safety regulations, maintain professional appearance and conduct, and contribute to high customer satisfaction as you support warranty cost reduction and efficient service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Performing maintenance and repair jobs in relation to other products of Wärtsilä corporation
• Fulfil tasks given by the Field Service Team Leader
• Use & maintain shop & field tools in accordance with good mechanical-work practices
• Prepare & submit parts requisitions as required
• Maintain current individual time sheets & expense records to support the timely invoicing of jobs to customers
• To maintain a professional appearance & conduct
• To maintain the quality & efficiency of mechanical work performed (as measured by warranty costs), in accordance with manufacturers specifications & ISO procedures
• Accurate & timely care of Wärtsilä specialty tools (field & shop) used to perform service work
• Ensure customer satisfaction with job performance through positive interactions with customers
• Conform with & abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures & instructions
• Conform to all safety rules & use of all appropriate safety equipment
• Adopt a pleasant, adaptable attitude to assist Company staff with any "ad-hoc" duties that may be required
• Submit accurate and high-quality service work reports within 48 hours of returning home from assigned jobs
