Job summary

Wärtsilä is seeking a skilled field service professional in Cape Town to perform maintenance and repair on our marine and energy equipment. You will follow guidance from the Field Service Team Leader, use proper tools, and submit parts requisitions as needed.

You will maintain accurate time and expense records, uphold safety and ISO standards, care for specialty tools, and ensure customer satisfaction through professional interactions. Wärtsilä promotes its products and services globally.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in mechanical/marine engineering or equivalent.
• Diesel fitter trade certification preferred.
• Proven maintenance and repair experience on marine/industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair jobs on Wärtsilä equipment and products.
• Fulfil tasks assigned by the Field Service Team Leader.
• Use and maintain shop and field tools according to best practices.
• Prepare and submit parts requisitions as required.
• Maintain time sheets and expense records to support invoicing.
• Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times.
• Ensure quality and efficiency of work per manufacturer specs and ISO procedures.
• Care for Wärtsilä specialty tools used in service work.
• Ensure customer satisfaction through positive interactions.
• Conform to safety rules and all policies and instructions.
• Assist with ad-hoc duties as needed.
• Submit accurate service reports within 48 hours of returning from jobs.
• Promote Wärtsilä products and services.

The main responsibilities are as follows:

• Performing maintenance and repair jobs in relation to other products of Wärtsilä corporation
• Fulfil tasks given by the Field Service Team Leader
• Use & maintain shop & field tools in accordance with good mechanical-work practices
• Prepare & submit parts requisitions as required
• Maintain current individual time sheets & expense records to support the timely invoicing of jobs to customers
• To maintain a professional appearance & conduct
• To maintain the quality & efficiency of mechanical work performed (as measured by warranty costs), & in accordance with manufacturers specifications & ISO procedures
• Accurate & timely care of Wärtsilä specialty tools (field & shop) used to perform service work
• Ensure customer satisfaction with job performance through positive interactions with customers
• Conform with & abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures & instructions
• Conform to all safety rules & use of all appropriate safety equipment
• Adopt a pleasant, adaptable attitude to assist Company staff with any "ad-hoc" duties that may be required
• Submit accurate and high-quality service work reports within 48 hours of returning home from assigned jobs
• Promote Wärtsilä Products and Services.

Education- Diploma/Degree In Mechanical/Marine Engineering/Diesel Fitter Trade Certification
