Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Wind Turbine Technician to join our essential operations team in Sandton. The role covers installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of wind turbines to ensure optimal performance and longevity, working at heights and in various weather conditions.

You will play a key role in renewables, with a minimum of 5 years in wind turbine maintenance and a technical qualification such as NQF Level 4 in Mechanical or Electrical

Qualifications

• Relevant technical qualification (e.g., NQF Level 4 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering/Fitting/Instrumentation) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Wind Turbine Technician or in a similar complex rotating machinery maintenance role.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with the ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Experience with High Voltage (HV) or Medium Voltage (MV) systems is advantageous.
• Valid working at heights certification and strong safety awareness.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and independently, often in remote locations.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on wind turbine systems, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.
• Diagnose and repair complex faults using specialized tools, diagnostic equipment, and technical documentation.
• Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, and cleaning of turbine components.
• Ensure all work is carried out in strict adherence to safety procedures and protocols, including working at heights.
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new wind turbines.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior technicians, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
