Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Wind Energy Turbine Engineer to lead the design, development and optimization of wind turbine systems in Sandton. You will drive performance improvements, lifecycle management, and ensure reliability and safety of wind assets.

The role requires a Master's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 8+ years in wind turbine design and technical management, plus strong skills in aerodynamics, structural dynamics, control systems, and gearbox technology.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
8+ years of wind turbine design, engineering and technical management.
Expertise in aerodynamics, structural dynamics, control systems, and gearbox technology.
Proficiency in simulation/design software: ANSYS, SolidWorks, FAST.Farm, Bladed.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Understanding of wind resource assessment and site conditions.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of wind turbine components and systems.
Conduct aerodynamic, structural, and mechanical analyses to optimize performance.
Develop and implement advanced control strategies for efficiency and grid compliance.
Oversee testing, commissioning, and validation of turbine technologies.
Provide expert technical support for wind farm operations and maintenance.
Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain to ensure quality and timely delivery.
