Placements24 is seeking a Senior Wind Turbine Technician for a major renewable energy site in Mahikeng, North West. The role focuses on proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely repairs to ensure turbine reliability and performance.

You will lead a team of technicians, uphold strict safety standards, and contribute to the wind farm's longevity. The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience with wind turbine models and strong diagnostic skills, with relocation to Mahikeng

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience as Wind Turbine Technician.
• Experience with major wind turbine brands and control systems.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, SCADA, and CMMS.
• Commitment to safety, including working at heights.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willing to relocate to Mahikeng, South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex maintenance on wind turbine systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic).
• Diagnose faults and implement solutions to minimize downtime.
• Lead and mentor junior technicians.
• Enforce safety policies and industry best practices.
• Conduct pre-commissioning checks and assist commissioning of new turbines.
• Maintain records using CMMS and track parts inventory.
• Operate diagnostic tools and testing equipment safely.
• Collaborate with site management, operations, and engineering teams.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance processes.
• Stay updated on turbine technology and safety regulations.
