Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Wind Turbine Technician to join our client’s Polokwane wind farm operations. The role focuses on safe installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of turbines, with hands-on leadership for junior technicians.

The successful candidate will oversee preventative maintenance, diagnose complex faults, and support commissioning activities while ensuring compliance with safety and high-height work standards. Excellent problem-solving and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years as a wind turbine technician, with ≥2 years in senior/lead capacity.
• Experience with major wind turbine manufacturers and models.
• Ability to read manuals, schematics and blueprints; strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on wind turbines, including inspections, lubrication, and component checks.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior technicians on site.
• Respond to turbine fault alarms and perform emergency repairs as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs in the asset management system.
