Job summary

Placements24, on behalf of a major international Oil & Gas client, seeks a Senior Well Intervention Engineer to lead and execute heavy intervention campaigns around Benoni, Gauteng. The role blends field execution with planning, risk assessment, and performance analysis.

You will design intervention approaches, mentor junior engineers, and work in a hybrid setup that balances in-office collaboration with field oversight in South Africa.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 8+ years in well intervention, workover operations, and completions engineering within Oil & Gas.
• Proven track record in planning and executing complex well intervention programs.
• In-depth knowledge of downhole tools, fishing techniques, and artificial lift systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee well intervention and workover programs with planning, risk assessment and execution oversight.
• Design and select equipment and technologies for well interventions, such as fishing tools and completion gear.
• Ensure all intervention activities are performed safely and in compliance with company policies, standards and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor well performance post-intervention and evaluate effectiveness of solutions.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and field personnel.
