Job summary

Placements24 is partnering with an environmental consulting firm to recruit a Senior Project Manager to lead water resource management projects in Kimberley, Northern Cape, South Africa. The role focuses on sustainable water use, conservation, and infrastructure delivery, coordinating with public bodies and communities.

The ideal candidate has a Master's degree and at least 7 years of project management experience, including 4 years in water resources, and will supervise teams while driving

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Hydrology, or a related field with a strong focus on water resources.
• 7+ years of project management experience, with at least 4 years focused on water resource management projects.
• Proven experience managing complex water-related projects from inception to completion.
• In-depth knowledge of water resource challenges and solutions relevant to Kimberley and the broader South African context.
• Strong understanding of water quality monitoring, treatment technologies, and regulatory frameworks.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project) and water modeling software is a plus.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and execution of water resource management projects, including water supply schemes, wastewater treatment, and catchment management plans.
• Manage project scope, budgets, timelines, and resource allocation to ensure successful delivery.
• Coordinate with government agencies, municipalities, NGOs, and community stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and water quality standards in South Africa.
• Oversee feasibility studies, impact assessments, and the development of technical designs and implementation plans.
• Manage project risks and identify mitigation strategies.
• Facilitate stakeholder consultations and community engagement processes.
• Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators, and prepare comprehensive reports for clients and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure the integration of sustainable water management practices and innovative technologies.
• Supervise junior project staff and consultants involved in water resource projects.
