About the Role

Our client, a leading environmental consultancy dedicated to sustainable resource management, is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist to lead their water resource management division in Kimberley, Northern Cape. This senior role involves overseeing projects related to water quality assessment, impact studies, and the development of integrated water management plans for diverse clients, including government agencies and private sector organizations. You will be responsible for managing project teams, ensuring scientific rigor, and providing expert advice on water-related environmental challenges. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage environmental projects focused on water resource assessment, water quality monitoring, and impact evaluation.
• Develop and implement strategies for sustainable water management, including water conservation and efficiency measures.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and risk assessments for water-related projects.
• Analyze hydrogeological data, water quality parameters, and ecological indicators.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, and client presentations.
• Provide expert advice and technical guidance to clients and project teams.
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and regulations pertaining to water resources in Northern Cape.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
• Mentor junior environmental scientists and field technicians.
• Stay current with best practices, technologies, and regulatory changes in water resource management.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Environmental Science, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in environmental consulting, with a strong specialization in water resource management.
• Proven experience in conducting environmental impact assessments and water quality studies.
• In-depth knowledge of South African environmental legislation related to water resources.
• Proficiency in relevant water modeling software and GIS tools.
