Job summary

Qualifications

• Valid SA driver’s licence (Code B/EB) with clean record.
• Strong negotiation, closing and relationship-building skills.
• CRM / Dealer Management System proficiency.
• Willingness to work weekends/public holidays due to dealer hours.

Responsibilities

• Achieve or exceed a monthly target of at least 15 vehicle units (cars and bakkies).
• Generate and follow up on leads: walk-ins, phone and online enquiries, referrals, self-prospecting.
• Conduct needs analyses, product presentations and test drives.
• Negotiate prices and trade-ins; close deals profitably.
• Collaborate with Finance & Insurance to secure vehicle finance and sell warranties, service plans, insurance.
• Value trade-ins with the used-vehicle manager.
• Ensure all sales documentation complies with relevant laws.
• Manage delivery to ensure customer satisfaction and smooth handover.
• Keep CRM / DMS up to date with leads and sales.
• Maintain after-sales contact to build repeat/referral business.
• Stay current on product knowledge, pricing, and competition.

A proven sales track record matters far more than formal qualifications for this role.

Essential

• Extensive experience in motor vehicle sales, ideally 10 years or more in a dealership environment.
• A consistent, verifiable track record of selling an average of 15 or more vehicles per month.
• Ability to provide commission statements (minimum of the last 6 to 12 months) as proof of sales performance.
• An established, loyal client base, preferably one the candidate can bring to the new employer.
• In-depth knowledge of the South African passenger vehicle and bakkie market: models and pricing, competitor brands, trade-in values, vehicle finance (banks and approval criteria), dealer networks and buyer trends.
• Valid South African driver's licence (Code B / EB) with a clean driving record.
• Strong negotiation, closing and relationship-building skills.
• Sound knowledge of vehicle finance processes and the trade-in process.
• Computer literate, with working knowledge of a CRM or Dealer Management System.
• Willingness to work weekends and public holidays as dealership trading hours require.

• Keep the CRM / Dealer Management System up to date with leads, follow-ups and sales.
• Maintain after-sales contact to build repeat and referral business.
• Keep current on product knowledge, competitor offerings and market pricing.
