Placements24 is actively seeking a Senior Urban Planning Architect to lead the creation of urban master plans, spatial development frameworks, and design guidelines for Mahikeng and surrounding areas in the North West province. You will work with municipal authorities, developers, and communities to shape sustainable, livable urban environments.

• Minimum 7 years of experience in urban planning, urban design, or related field.
• Experience leading complex urban planning and design projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of urban master plans, spatial development frameworks, and precinct plans.
• Conduct urban analyses, including site assessments, demographic studies, and infrastructure evaluations.
• Develop design guidelines and development control policies.
• Facilitate community engagement processes and workshops.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other specialists on integrated urban projects.
• Prepare planning reports, presentations, and policy documents.
• Ensure compliance with national, provincial, and local planning legislation and policies.
• Advise clients and stakeholders on planning applications and development feasibility.
• Stay abreast of best practices in urban planning, sustainable development, and smart city initiatives.

• Experience in community engagement and stakeholder consultation.
• Familiarity with the planning context of Mahikeng and the North West province is highly desirable.
• Professional registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., SACPLAN, SAIA) is advantageous.
