Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architecture, Urban Design or Urban Planning.
• 8+ years' experience in urban design and master planning.
• Proven leadership of urban design projects from concept to implementation.
• Familiarity with SA planning law and by-laws (Pretoria/Gauteng).

Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization and development of urban design strategies and master plans for diverse projects.
• Create visual representations, including master plans, site plans, 3D models, and design guidelines.
• Conduct urban analysis, including site assessments, context studies, and stakeholder consultations.
• Collaborate with city planners, developers, engineers, and community groups to ensure integrated and context-sensitive designs.

Requirements

• Proficiency in urban design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, and GIS.
• Strong understanding of urban planning principles, public space design, and sustainable urban development practices.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Knowledge of South African planning legislation and municipal by-laws, particularly relevant to Pretoria and the Gauteng province.
• Ability to manage project timelines and deliverables effectively.
• SACAP registration or equivalent professional body membership is preferred.
