Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to oversee upstream oil and gas activities in the Sandton region. You will lead a team of professionals, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective exploration and production operations while driving performance improvements in line with environmental and safety standards.

You will develop strategic plans, manage budgets, and coordinate with regulators, contractors, and service providers, fostering a high-performance culture and guiding risk

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years' progressive upstream oil and gas operations experience.
• Proven track record in meeting production targets, budgets, and HSE performance.
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with operational risk management and incident investigation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily upstream operations, including well production, facility operations, and maintenance.
• Develop and execute operational plans to meet production targets, manage budgets, and optimize costs.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
• Oversee the performance of operational teams, providing leadership, coaching, and development.
• Implement best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives across all operational areas.
• Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, contractors, and service providers.
