Mine Operations Superintendent

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mine Operations Superintendent to manage day-to-day mining activities in their facility near Soweto. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production in alignment with operational targets and company standards. You will lead a diverse team of miners, supervisors, and technicians, fostering a culture of safety, productivity, and continuous improvement. This is a critical position within a dynamic organization committed to operational excellence in the mining sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all underground or open-pit mining operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, operational procedures, and environmental standards.
• Manage shift performance, productivity, and resource allocation.
• Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for operational efficiency.
• Coach, mentor, and develop operational staff to enhance skills and performance.
• Collaborate with planning, engineering, and maintenance departments to achieve production goals.
• Investigate and report on operational incidents and implement corrective actions.

Requirements

• BSc or BEng in Mining Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mine operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Demonstrated experience in managing large operational teams and production targets.
• Strong understanding of safety management systems and operational best practices in mining.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in mine operations planning and execution.
