Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Transportation Planner to join our team in Klerksdorp, North West. You will lead development of transportation master plans and mobility studies, integrating multi-modal networks to improve urban mobility and safety for communities.

You will collaborate with urban designers, engineers, and government agencies, manage projects and engage with stakeholders to drive policy recommendations and project outcomes. Relocation to Klerksdorp is expected where necessary.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering, Geography, or related field.
• Registration with a relevant body is advantageous.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in transportation planning and urban mobility.
• Experience developing and implementing transportation master plans.
• Proficiency in transportation modeling software and GIS tools.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with data interpretation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including public speaking.
• Proven ability to manage projects and lead teams.
• Understanding of South African transportation policies and planning frameworks.
• Must be based in or relocate to Klerksdorp, North West.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive transportation plans, including traffic impact assessments and mobility studies.
• Analyze traffic data, travel patterns, and infrastructure performance.
• Design and plan for road networks, public transport, and non-motorized transport.
• Use modeling software to simulate traffic flow and test scenarios.
• Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and policy recommendations.
• Collaborate with urban designers, engineers, and government agencies.
• Conduct public consultation and engagement to gather community input.
• Stay updated on best practices and policy trends in transportation planning.
• Manage project schedules and budgets for transportation planning assignments.
• Provide expert advice on traffic management and road safety improvements.
