Placements24 is seeking a Transportation Engineer in Klerksdorp, North West to develop innovative solutions addressing congestion, safety, and urban mobility. You will plan, design, and implement transportation infrastructure projects including roads, intersections, and public transport facilities, working with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a transportation specialization.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation planning and design.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Technologist (Pr Tech Eng) registration with ECSA preferred.
• Proficiency in traffic engineering software and analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles, road design standards, and safety practices.
• Knowledge of public transport planning and pedestrian/cyclist infrastructure design.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report writing skills.
• Ability to manage project timelines and deliverables.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to undertake site visits and travel within North West province.

Responsibilities

• Conduct traffic studies, data collection, and analysis of traffic flow, capacity, and safety.
• Design road alignments, intersections, traffic signals, and related infrastructure.
• Develop traffic management plans for construction projects and events.
• Prepare TIAs for new developments.
• Collaborate with urban planners, architects, and engineers on integrated transport solutions.
• Ensure designs comply with South African transport standards.
• Evaluate and improve public transport and non-motorized facilities.
• Use traffic simulation and modelling software for analysis and design.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Provide expert advice on transport planning to clients and stakeholders.
