Placements24 is seeking a Lead Telecommunications Systems Architect in Cape Town to shape the future of our client’s telecom infrastructure. You will drive high-level design, define roadmaps, and guide cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure networks in a rapidly evolving environment.

The role requires a track record of leading large-scale, carrier-grade solutions and strong cloud-native experience.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering or related field.
10+ years of experience in telecommunications systems design and architecture.
Experience with 4G/5G, VoIP, IMS, and SDN.
Leadership and stakeholder management experience.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain the architectural vision and strategy for all telecommunications systems.
Lead the design and evolution of core network elements, including voice, data, and mobile infrastructure.
Evaluate and select new technologies and vendor solutions to enhance service offerings.
Ensure network architecture complies with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and security best practices.
Collaborate with engineering, operations, and product development teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to architects and senior engineers within the team.
Create detailed architectural documentation, including diagrams, specifications, and implementation plans.
Conduct feasibility studies and proof-of-concept initiatives for emerging technologies.
Oversee the integration of diverse telecommunications platforms and services.
