Our client, a premier live event production company renowned for delivering spectacular experiences in Nelspruit and surrounding regions, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Technical Director. This crucial role involves overseeing the technical execution of large-scale events, concerts, conferences, and festivals. The ideal candidate will possess a deep and broad understanding of all technical disciplines, including audio, lighting, video, staging, and rigging, ensuring seamless integration and flawless operation. You will lead and manage technical teams, collaborate closely with creative directors and clients, and be responsible for the overall technical integrity and safety of every event. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and implementation of all aspects of live events, including AV, lighting, staging, and rigging.
• Manage and mentor a team of technical specialists across various disciplines.
• Develop detailed technical drawings, specifications, and production plans.
• Oversee equipment sourcing, rental, and inventory management.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations on all event sites.
• Collaborate closely with creative directors, project managers, and clients to translate concepts into technical realities.
• Manage technical budgets and timelines effectively, ensuring projects are delivered within scope and on budget.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues that arise during event setup and execution.
• Conduct site surveys and technical assessments for potential event venues.
• Stay abreast of the latest technological advancements in live event production.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in technical production for live events, with a strong emphasis on leadership roles within the Arts & Entertainment sector.
• Extensive knowledge of audio-visual systems, lighting design, video projection, staging, and rigging techniques.
• Proven experience in managing multidisciplinary technical teams and external vendors.
• Strong understanding of event production workflows, from planning to execution.
• Excellent project management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency with CAD software and other relevant technical planning tools.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Relevant certifications in rigging, safety, or specific technical disciplines are a plus.
• Must be able to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in fast-paced event environments.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Nelspruit , Mpumalanga area.
