Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Technical Artist in Randburg for a hybrid role bridging art and technology. You will optimize art pipelines, develop tools, and ensure seamless engine integration to boost visual quality and performance.

You will collaborate with artists and engineers, develop complex shaders, and maintain asset integrity across Unreal Engine and Unity environments. This role rewards technical leadership and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Technical Artist with a strong portfolio in game engines and art pipeline optimization.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or MEL, and experience with C++ is a plus.
• Strong understanding of 3D modeling, texturing, and rendering techniques.
• Experience with shader development and material authoring tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain efficient art pipelines, tools, and scripts to support art production workflows.
• Optimize 3D models, textures, and shaders for real-time performance in game engines (Unreal Engine, Unity).
• Collaborate with artists and engineers to troubleshoot issues and implement art-related solutions.
• Create and implement complex materials, shaders, and visual effects.
• Provide technical guidance to the art team and promote best practices in asset creation and engine integration.
