Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our fully remote legal team. You will steer complex agreements, protect intellectual property, ensure privacy compliance, and guide multinational contracts as the business scales globally.

Ideal candidates have SA-qualified admission, 7+ years post-qualification experience in technology law, SaaS, and data privacy, with strong drafting and negotiation skills and the ability to operate autonomously in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Admission to the South African legal practice with 7+ years post-qualification experience.
• Experience in technology law, IP, data privacy, and commercial contracts.
• Experience advising tech companies, startups or SaaS businesses is highly desirable.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and analytical skills; remote work capable.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal guidance on IP, data privacy, licensing and contracts.
• Draft, review and negotiate complex global agreements with customers and partners.
• Manage and protect the company’s IP portfolio including patents and trademarks.
• Ensure compliance with international laws relevant to tech and e‑commerce.
• Advise senior management on legal risks in product development and expansion.
• Oversee litigation or regulatory inquiries and coordinate with external counsel.
• Develop robust policies and compliance programs for a tech-focused business.
