This role is ideal for a seasoned professional based in South Africa who thrives on challenging projects and desires the flexibility of remote work. You will be responsible for the structural design and analysis of a diverse range of projects, collaborating with international teams and contributing to cutting-edge architectural and engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis for various building types, including commercial, residential, and industrial structures.
• Develop innovative and cost-effective structural solutions using advanced engineering principles and software.
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, calculations, and specifications for project execution.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant South African National Standards (SANS), National Building Regulations (NBR), and international codes where applicable.
• Collaborate effectively with architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines in a remote setting.
• Review technical documents, contractor submittals, and respond to queries from construction teams.
• Perform structural assessments and provide recommendations for rehabilitation or retrofitting of existing structures.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technologists within the remote team structure.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in structural engineering technology, materials, and design methodologies.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the firm's design standards and practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or Bachelor of Science (Engineering) degree with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
• Professional registration as a Pr. Eng. with ECSA is mandatory.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design and analysis, with a significant portfolio of completed projects.
• Expertise in structural analysis software (e.g., Etabs, SAP2000, Robot Structural Analysis) and BIM tools.
• In-depth knowledge of South African building codes, material standards, and construction practices.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead design teams in a remote environment.
• Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across distances.
