Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive structural analyses and design calculations for a wide range of building structures, including residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
• Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and reports using industry-standard software and methodologies.
• Collaborate closely with architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and optimized project designs.
• Perform site visits (if deemed absolutely necessary and feasible remotely) and provide technical support during the construction phase, addressing any structural queries or issues.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations, including South African National Standards (SANS).
• Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, and construction methodologies proposed by contractors.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their professional development and technical expertise within the team.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure project delivery within agreed parameters.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in structural engineering technologies, materials, and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from a recognized institution.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design and project management within the construction industry.
• Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Pr. Eng. is mandatory.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, Revit Structure, or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant South African building codes, standards, and legislation.
• Demonstrated experience in managing complex construction projects from conceptualization to completion.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet strict deadlines in a remote work environment.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• A dedicated home office setup with reliable high-speed internet access is essential for this role.
