Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Structural Engineer for a fully remote role. You will design and analyze complex structures across diverse projects from your home office, collaborating with distributed teams nationwide and ensuring compliance with codes and client requirements.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of progressive structural design experience, a PE or CEng license, and proficiency in SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, AutoCAD, and Revit. A Master's degree is preferred but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) license is required.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro) and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
• In-depth knowledge of building codes, standards (e.g., SANS, Eurocodes, AISC, ACI).
• Proven experience in designing a wide range of structural elements and materials (steel, concrete, masonry, timber).
• Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze complex structural systems for various projects.
• Prepare detailed structural calculations, drawings, and specifications per codes and standards.
• Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies with comprehensive reports.
• Collaborate effectively with architects, PMs, and engineers in a virtual setting.
• Oversee the construction phase and provide technical support.
• Perform quality control checks of deliverables from junior engineers.
• Manage project timelines and budgets to ensure timely completion.
• Stay updated on new technologies, materials, and techniques to enhance design methods.
• Use advanced structural analysis software and modeling tools for design and simulation.
• Ensure designs meet safety regulations and client requirements with sustainability focus.
