Placements24 is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the design for high‑profile commercial and industrial projects in Rustenburg, North West. The role focuses on ensuring safety, efficiency and constructability from concept through to delivery, with oversight of technical teams and budgets.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with architects and other disciplines, and drive innovative, cost-effective structural solutions across projects in the Rustenburg area.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a Bachelor's degree with significant relevant experience.
• Professional registration as a Pr.Eng with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in structural engineering design, with a focus on commercial and industrial buildings.
• Proven experience in leading structural design teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Expertise in structural analysis software such as ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, or similar.
• Proficiency in relevant design codes and standards (e.g., Eurocodes, SANS).
• Strong understanding of construction materials and methods.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with clients and project teams in North West.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design process for commercial and industrial building projects, ensuring compliance with relevant building codes and project specifications.
• Perform structural analysis and design for steel, concrete, and masonry structures, utilizing advanced engineering principles.
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports.
• Manage structural engineering project timelines and budgets, coordinating with other disciplines and stakeholders.
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to design specifications, providing timely solutions to site queries.
• Review designs submitted by external consultants and contractors for compliance and quality assurance.
• Mentor and guide junior structural engineers and draughtspersons, fostering their technical development and project management capabilities.
• Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and clients to achieve optimal design outcomes for projects in Rustenburg.
