Job summary

AECOM SA in Pretoria, Gauteng, is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer (Civil/Structural) to lead design teams on complex projects in building engineering. You will supervise, review and deliver design drawings, mentor junior staff, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure quality and on-time delivery.

Candidates should have a recognised Civil Engineering degree (M.Eng/MScEng preferred), 8+ years’ post-qualification experience, and professional registration (Pr.Eng) with ECSA.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural), preferably M.Eng or MSc.Eng.
• 8+ years of post-qualification experience.
• Professional registration with ECSA as Pr.Eng. for at least 3 years.
• Ability to develop trusted client relationships and lead teams.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to advise on complex matters to non-specialists.
• Experience with design codes and BIM tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a design team of Structures staff and mentor them daily.
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver fully coordinated designs.
• Develop, review and deliver high‑quality design outputs and drawings.
• Guide junior engineers, provide technical input, and ensure design quality.
• Interface with clients on schedules, meetings and expectations.
• Support business development through technical leadership on bids and proposals.
