Job summary

AECOM, Cape Town office, is seeking a qualified Structural Engineer with 4+ years’ experience in concrete and steel design. You will perform detailed designs, assist with Revit modelling, and manage projects while liaising with teams and contractors.

The role focuses on international projects and adherence to safety standards. Ideal candidates bring strong communication, planning, and analytical skills, with proficiency in Tekla, Etabs, Robot, Idea Statica, and Revit Structures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in design of concrete and steel structures.
• Solid knowledge of structural analysis software like Tekla Structural Designer / Etabs / Robot / Idea Statica, etc.
• Revit Structures knowledge will be advantageous.
• Must have experience in the design of reinforced concrete and structural steel buildings.
• Finite element design of concrete structures, specifically flat slab design.
• Some experience in leading small design projects, including resource planning and design time frame estimates.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and understand the importance of delivery and client satisfaction
• Strong analytical, literacy and numerical skills
• Good planning and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of a Senior Engineer, perform detailed structural designs and calculations for structural systems in commercial and industrial fields for both reinforced concrete and structural steel type structures.
• When required assist with Revit modelling.
• Take responsibility for structural design and drawings.
• Be part of a project team, liaise with other professional team members and contractors.
• Attend planning, design and site meetings, and ad-hoc site inspections.
• Manage less complicated projects
• Work to ensure the implementation of safety and integrity principles in structural documentation.
• Promote compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all design activities.
• Work will mostly be on international projects.
