Job summary

Placements24 in Bloemfontein seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead design of bridges, buildings and infrastructure in the Free State. You will manage projects from concept to delivery, mentor junior engineers and ensure compliance with SANS codes.

Required: Master's in Structural or Civil Eng, Pr. Eng registration, 8+ years of experience, proficiency in ETABS/STAAD/ROBOT, and strong leadership and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural specialization.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering, with focus on infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in leading structural design teams and managing project deliverables.
• Proficiency in structural analysis/design software (ETABS, STAAD.Pro, ROBOT).
• In-depth knowledge of South African structural design codes (SANS) and relevant standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis of civil infrastructure projects including bridges and public facilities.
• Develop detailed drawings, specs, and construction docs using AutoCAD/Revit.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure conformance with design specifications in Bloemfontein.
• Collaborate with architects, PMs and other disciplines.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
