Placements24 is seeking a Senior Civil Structural Engineer in Johannesburg to lead complex structural design and analysis for major infrastructure projects. The role emphasizes technical leadership, project delivery, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of civil infrastructure experience, a Pr. Eng registration with ECSA, and proficiency in SAP2000/ETABS/STAAD.Pro. Travel to sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering for civil infrastructure projects.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, or STAAD.Pro.
• Expertise in SANS and international design codes (Eurocodes, AASHTO).
• Strong understanding of materials science, soil mechanics, and foundation design.
• Demonstrated experience in project management, including planning, execution, and financial oversight.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis of complex civil engineering projects, including bridges, buildings, and transportation infrastructure.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, design specifications, and calculations in compliance with relevant engineering standards and codes.
• Oversee and mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing guidance on design principles and project execution.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams, including architects, geotechnical engineers, and construction managers.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to design specifications.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
• Review and approve design drawings, calculations, and other project-related documentation.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in structural engineering software and design methodologies.
