Placements24 is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for our client in George, Western Cape. The role focuses on leading complex infrastructure and building projects, delivering compliant designs, and mentoring junior engineers.

You will oversee structural design and analysis using SAP2000, ETABS, Revit Structure and AutoCAD, ensure adherence to SANS codes, and manage project timelines and budgets with a hands-on, collaborative approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Professional registration as Pr. Eng. with ECSA is essential.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design and project management.

About the Role

Our client, a leading engineering consultancy, is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Structural Engineer to join their dynamic team in George, Western Cape. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis of various projects, including commercial, industrial, and residential buildings, as well as infrastructure works.
• Prepare detailed structural calculations, drawings, and specifications using industry-standard software.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during the construction phase to ensure designs are implemented correctly.
• Collaborate effectively with architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, and clients to achieve project objectives.
• Review and approve structural designs submitted by junior engineers and external consultants.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
• Stay abreast of new technologies, materials, and regulatory changes in structural engineering.
• Mentor and guide junior engineering staff, fostering their professional development.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Professional registration as a Pr. Eng. with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is essential.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design and project management.
• Proven experience with a variety of structural materials, including concrete, steel, and masonry.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, Revit Structure, AutoCAD).
• Strong understanding of South African building codes and standards (SANS).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities effectively.
• Demonstrated experience in a similar role within the Western Cape or a comparable region.
