Job summary

County Fair, a Division of Astral Operations Limited, has an opportunity for a Senior Stock Controller at the New Market Cold Store facility based in Epping, Western Cape.

You will manage stock movements, monitor variances, and lead the stock control team to ensure accurate reporting and continuous improvement in stock management while upholding food safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 and tertiary qualification in Finance, Logistics, Stock Management or Supply Chain management.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in FMCG stock control, logistics, warehouse or cold storage.

Responsibilities

• Management of overall stock movements
• Monitor stock levels and implement strategies to minimise variances
• Supervising and guiding the Stock Control Team to ensure all duties are carried out effectively
• Identify and minimize aged or slow-moving stock with actions such as discounting or repurposing
• Management of stock-takes and reporting/analysis related to stock movement
• Drive continuous improvement in stock management processes using data to identify bottlenecks
• Ensure compliance to stock and quality control policies and close gaps
• Maintain accurate stock records to support on-time delivery
• Enforce compliance with food safety, product recall and documentation controls
• Manage cycle counts and annual stock counts; ensure procedures are followed
• Generate reports on stock levels, outstanding orders and KPIs for senior management
• Implement improvements and maintain stock management policies and SOPs
• Address stock-related queries and resolve discrepancies
• Analyse variances and implement corrective actions
• Monitor budgets and expenses for stock control and team
• Collaborate with departments to ensure invoicing and goods receipt accuracy
• Build, mentor and lead a high-performing stock control team
• Conduct regular performance reviews and daily team meetings
• Promote safety and compliance in the work environment

has an opportunity for a Senior Stock Controller in New Market Cold Store facility based in Epping in the Western Cape.

The purpose of this position is to provide effective control, supervision and management of stock/final product within the New Market Cold Store while maintaining efficiencies, quality and cost control.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 and tertiary qualification in Finance, Logistics, Stock Management or Supply Chain management

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar designation, at a similar level in the FMCG stock control, logistics, warehouse and / or cold storage environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Be Responsible For

• Management of overall stock movements
• Monitor stock levels and implement strategies to minimize variances
• Supervising and guiding the Stock Control Team to ensure all duties are carried out effectively
• Identify, manage and minimize aged or slow-moving stock – collaborate with relevant departments to determine appropriate actions such as discounting, repurposing or rendering of absolute stock
• Management of all stock-takes and handle all reporting and analysis related to stock movement
• Drive continuous improvement in stock management processes, using data analysis to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies and areas for improvement
• Ensure compliance to Stock and Quality control policies and use management tools to close gaps
• Ensuring accurate stock records are maintained to support on-time-and-in-full delivery of orders
• Enforce compliance with company and client standards, focusing on Food Safety, Product Recall and Documentation Control.
• Manage cycle counts, monthly stock-takes and conducting annual stock counts, ensuring compliance with established procedures
• Generating reports on stock levels, outstanding orders / deliveries and other relevant data to prepare and present regular reports on stock performance, key metrics and KPI’s to senior management, as and when required
• Implementing improvements and maintaining stock management system, policies, SOP’s relating to stock management and control
• Addressing stock-related queries daily, resolving discrepancies and communicating with relevant stakeholders
• Analyse root cause of variances and implement corrective actions and communicate same
• Monitor and control budget and expenses related to stock control and the stock control team, ensuring financial reconciliation.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate invoicing, goods receipt and issued, transfers and reporting to support business-wide improvements
• Build, mentor and lead a high-performing stock control team
• Conduct regular performance reviews, provide ongoing training and development
• Conduct daily team meetings
• Promote adherence to safety and compliance standards, ensuring a safe and effective work environment

The Successful Candidate Will Meet The Following Requirements

• Good understanding of warehouse operations activities, inventory principles, warehouse systems and pallet management software.
• Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Honest, high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Must be numerate and literate (apply mathematics calculations)
• Able to communicate well in both English and Afrikaans languages
• Must be honest, self-driven, responsible and able to use own initiative
• Ability to work under pressure and swift resolving of employee and management queries;
• Basic understanding of the 20 Keys concept is essential;
• Must be able to work independently and cope well under pressure;
• It is essential that the successful candidate be self-motivated with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
