Placements24 is seeking a Senior Sports Facilities Manager to oversee the operations and maintenance of a premier sports complex in Upington, Northern Cape. The role requires leading a dedicated team, coordinating with stakeholders, and driving strategic initiatives to enhance facility performance and community engagement.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of progressive experience in sports facility management or related field.
• Experience managing budgets, staff and operational logistics for large venues.
• Strong understanding of sports facility maintenance, turf management and equipment care.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to sports facilities.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills with ability to motivate a diverse team.
• Proficiency in scheduling, maintenance tracking and financial management software.
• A relevant qualification in Sports Management or Facility Management is highly desirable.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the Northern Cape region as needed.
• Experience in event management within a sports context is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement operational plans for all sports facilities.
• Lead and mentor facility staff including supervisors and maintenance personnel.
• Oversee budgets for operations, maintenance, and capital improvements.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Coordinate with external vendors for maintenance, repairs and upgrades.
• Schedule facility usage for teams, events, leagues and public access.
• Build partnerships with local clubs and community groups.
• Oversee maintenance and safety of equipment and machinery.
• Implement sustainability initiatives to reduce environmental impact.
• Prepare regular reports for senior management.
